Egypt, the ancients said, was made in the image of heaven, and the earth was a mirror of the Great Mother, who had many aspects. In this class we celebrate the sacred feminine and look at aspects of the feminine divine and the divergent energies of the ancient goddesses of sky, water, snake, star, vulture, feline, and cow. This is primarily steeped in Egyptian myth, but includes those cultures which influenced or were influenced by the Egyptian priestesses.

The Soul and the Phoenix
July 17-22     3:45 - 5:45pm
The Great Lakes Retreat Center, Olivet, MI     www.thegreatlakesretreat.org/

The ancient Egyptian mystery religion supported the soul’s journey through lifetimes to help bring to consciousness the wisdom of the ancestors and the God force. The highest spiritual bodies were the ba soul and the akh, equated with The Phoenix.  Lecture, discussion, and experiential activities help the student see how these spiritual bodies function in life on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual planes.   Active meditations will bring us into direct contact with these spiritual states and with the karma of our personal histories. The class concludes with a fire ritual of The Phoenix on its pyre.

Magic and Initiatory Practices

                    Hieroglyphic Thinking
Not only is it possible to walk like an Egyptian in the spirit world, but we must think like an Egyptian. Medju neter meant “hieroglyph” to the ancient Egyptian, and translated in our language it means the Word of God.  Think like an ancient Egyptian as you discover how the priests and priestesses used their words of power to create sacred texts, prayers, and oracles.

The Hero’s Journey as Spiritual Biography—Writing Your Life Story as a Record of Your Spiritual Growth
October 22nd        Saturday 9am - 4pm
Camp Chesterfield, IN                       https://campchesterfield.net/

Joseph Campbell’s seminal work, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, set forth the archetype of the hero’s quest found in all world culture. The myths define the stages of the hero’s journey, what motivates his quest, what obstacles one faces, what magic empowers the hero and how one comes to gain true spiritual wisdom, or “the pearl of great price.” As we look at the Hindu story of Arjuna, the Egyptian myth of Horus and the Biblical story of Moses found in Exodus, we will explore how these same events model our own lives. Using the pattern we have uncovered, we will craft a story of our own spiritual quest, and the meaning we have thus far found in our lives. This workshop is appropriate for anyone who is thinking of healing or ministry work or is on a deep spiritual path that continues to unfold.

Egyptian Mysteries Tour
November 26th -- December 10, 2016
Living Hotep: Manifesting Peace Within and Without
An Egyptian Mysteries Tour with Normandi Ellis & Indigo Rønlov

The ancient Egyptians had a beautiful concept called Hotep. It means peace eternal; and the hieroglyph that was written on the grave to indicate "Rest in Peace" was the sign for communion with the ancestors: a chalice and a loaf of bread on an altar cloth. The Coptic Christians use the same word Hotep to indicate that something is a blessing.
In this time of our lives manifesting world peace and peace within ourselves is of the utmost importance. As we celebrate the miracle of every day in Egypt, living close to the natural and godded world, we have the opportunity to prepare ourselves as ever more enlightened beings to work collaboratively in this world for the betterment of all. And the temples of ancient Egypt stand as a testament to the fact that a community engaged and working together can create Hotep-- both as peace making and as blessing.
During our pilgrimage together, we will travel along the sacred Egyptian land cultivating and nurturing Hotep. Normandi Ellis and Indigo Rønlov will use story, hieroglyphic divination, meditation, and direct connection to the goddesses and gods of the Egyptian Neteru to explore how to be peaceful, within ourselves and with each other, our families, and the world.
You will spend 4 nights at the famed and beautiful Mena House hotel located at the base of the great pyramids in Giza. You will have 9 nights aboard the well-appointed dahabeya Afandina, a private sailing boat just for our group. With visits to many temples and monuments, we will be immersed in a land filled with mystery and awe. Included in the itinerary are 3 private visits to the grand Sphinx in Giza, to Isis's temple at Philae, and a culminating ceremony in the King's Chamber of the Great Pyramid.
PLEASE REGISTER EARLY!!!

Annual Night of the Mothers Journal Retrospective
December 31st                                        Email ellisisis@gmail.com
Frankfort, KY  (Place TBD)        9am - 5pm

This workshop will be repeated January 4, 2017 at Camp Chesterfield, Indiana.
The Great Sky Mother wraps her arms around us, embraces us, and holds us and our dreams within her belly until we are reborn in the new year. All cultures are drawn to this inspiring vision of the night sky with its promised return of the light that celebrates the birth of the divine child.  Now, as we leave 2016 and herald in the changes of 2017, we usher in the light within us.

Through journal practice we can focus in and bring this divine light into expression through us. Gather your 2015 journals, datebooks, checkbooks, calendars & spend a few of the dark hours of winter looking backward through the past year, gleaning its lessons and gifts, then carrying your intentions into 2016.  This is a great way to share, write, learn and gain new inspiration and wisdom.
